Jim Hopper is a seasoned chaplain who responded to emergency calls with fire and law enforcement personnel for ten years. He became the lead Chaplain in 2018 and has been involved in over a thousand calls, providing spiritual support in the aftermath of events such as a mass school shooting and a devastating mudslide.
With a BA in Business and Economics from the University of Puget Sound, Jim later answered a deeper calling, graduating from the International Chaplains Academy. His training also includes specialized courses in child grief, suicide intervention, counseling, and Critical Incident Stress Management.
Having lost his father to a heart attack at nine and his mother at age twenty-two, Jim discovered a profound sense of empathy for families, particularly those with young children, as they navigate their losses. His personal experiences, coupled with his extensive fieldwork, fuels his compassionate approach to chaplaincy.
Jim’s work has not only supported countless individuals in crisis, but he also actively recruits and trains new chaplains while assisting first responders coping with PTSD. He continues to serve his community in the Pacific Northwest, where he lives with his family on Camano Island, Washington.
